Pre-construction Anti-termite Control
Execution & sequence of work:
Stage 1: Treatment of the trenches
As soon as the trenches for the foundation are created, the base and sides of the trenches are treated with an anti-termite solution.
Stage 2: Treatment of the backfilling and plinth filling
Backfilling is usually carried out in layers after the construction of the masonry foundation and retaining walls. The anti-termite solution is sprayed on each layer of backfilling. After which, the plinth area is also treated.
Stage 3: Treatment of the external perimeter of the building
Finally, the soil around the building’s exterior perimeter is also treated up to a depth of 30 cm once the construction is complete. Also, the soil around the pipes and expansion joints is also treated for foolproof termite prevention.
Note:
- As part of soil treatment, blanket spraying will be carried out on the soil, in addition to the above treatment.
- Anti-termite treatment will not be done under the base slab of the sump, lift pit, etc., which are below the water table.
- For pre-construction anti-termite treatment, only chemicals approved by the Dubai Municipality are used. The process does not lead to contamination of the site’s groundwater table or surface water sources. Nor do they have any adverse effect on the existing and proposed flora and fauna such as trees, plants and fish in ponds.
